Here at Calvary Bible Church, we love kids and see them as an active part of our church community.

From birth-6th grade, we intend to glorify God and make disciples by loving children and showing them that they are created by God, loved by God, and need Him as their Savior.  We want our kids to follow Jesus, develop a deeper relationship with Him, and grow in knowledge and understanding.

...tell
to the coming generation
the generous deeds of the Lord,

and his might, and the wonders

that he has done.

Psalm 78:4 (ESV)

Curriculum

At CBC, we use the “The Biggest Story” curriculum for our 1st- 6th grade Sunday School classes. This curriculum is based on “The Biggest Story Storybook Bible” written by Kevin DeYoung and published by Crossway. It is 104 lessons covering the full narrative of Scripture and we complete the curriculum every two years. This means that if your children are in Sunday School from 1st through 6th grade, they will go through the curriculum three times.

Our heart behind using this curriculum is to connect and support what parents are doing at home to disciple their kids with what is being taught in class on Sundays. This curriculum has multiple resources available to parents and families. Some of the resources that I want to encourage you to use are:

The Biggest Story ABC (for kids ages 1-3)

The Biggest Story (ages 5-8, read to me, ages 8-11, read to myself)

The Biggest Story Storybook Bible (ages 6-12)

The memory verse cards (given by us to all 1st– 6th grade students)

The Biggest Story podcast (Spotify | Apple)

Our vision for this curriculum is that families will go through the Storybook Bible at home at whatever pace works best and will use the memory verse cards to help and encourage the kids with Bible memorization. As your kids get older, you should transition to reading directly from Scripture more frequently until Scripture is their main source of study.

As you read with and disciple your kids at home, they will grow in their knowledge and faith and this will be reinforced through Sunday School lessons. The repetition of the material will hopefully reinforce what the kids are learning, allow them to gain deeper insight and understanding as they grow, and model for the kids that Bible reading and study is a lifelong process.
